So I was in Mexico City, not by choice, but because that's the only Aussie embassy in the region and I really needed to go to one after the incident in Costa Rica. Down on my luck when I heard of some guys braving the subways to find the Bull Fights.

This was appealing to Raph n I as we had talked about hitting up the bullfights since the start of the trip. Time and time again it wasn't the season or a few months earlier, try agian in a few weeks ... but here in Mexico, where bull fighting is big time, the off season is a time where apprentice matadors try their luck with some up and coming bulls - if they survive.

The whole situation was interesting, it wasn't really a tourist kinda thing, in fact I'm sure we were the only non-mexican people in the whole place. I am by no means a vegetarian, and I really thought the whole killing the bull thing wouldn't bother me, but by the end of it I really was on the Bulls side. Problem being the young matadors weren't really all that good. It took them sometimes 20+ times with the final sword to kill the struggling Bull, which is supposed to take one go.

Much to my delight the Bulls got a few back before meeting their fate, including a trampled matador, a broken thumb and some cheering gringo's in the stands.
